Taking the existing XX1 Eagle DUB chainset, XG-1299 cassette and XX1 Eagle chain, SRAM have designed the new XX1 Eagle AXS rear derailleur and Eagle AXS controller to take performance to the next level. XX1 Eagle AXS uses the lightest materials, with extensive use of carbon, titanium and more exotic materials, making it ideally to suit XC racing and trail riding.The XX1 Eagle AXS derailleur carries over many of the features of the mechanical XX1 derailleur, such as the useful Cage Lock and Type 3 Roller Bearing Clutch. Added to this are several all new technologies that help improve performance and durability. Controlled by SRAM’s new AXS technology, the derailleur offers crisp, instantaneous shifting and a super-clean cable free design, taking mere seconds to install and sync with the AXS controller using the AXS app. Further improving shifting and durability is the Overload Clutch. This works to protect the rear derailleur in case of a direct strike to it from a trail-side obstacle or crash, protecting the derailleur and keeping it shifting smoothly. The pulley cage is also 10mm shorter for improved clearance, further reducing the risk of damage. The system is completely water and dust proof to IP67K, so the elements are shrugged off with ease. The battery is shared with other AXS and eTap components, so can be swapped if needed and lasts between 20-30 hours of riding between charges.The Eagle AXS Controller is the real highlight of the range. As with the derailleur, the AXS Controller installs in seconds thanks to it’s wireless design and is MatchMaker X compatible so it can neatly sync with compatible brake levers. It takes mere seconds to sync to AXS derailleurs. Designed to be as ergonomic as possible, shifts can be made with minimal hand movement, so you’re always in control. The touch-points on the controller can be easily customised with the AXS app, so if you want different button configurations you can do just that. The AXS controller can even be paired with a Reverb AXS seatpost, so you can have all of your controls easily within reach for instantaneous shifting or dropping of your saddle. Like the derailleur, the AXS controller is water and dust proof to IP67K standard. Powered by a simple CR2032 battery, the AXS controller can last for around 2 years without needing to change the battery.The remainder of the XX1 Eagle AXS groupset is made up from existing XX1 Eagle components that have been treated to a unique colourway. The XG-1299 cassette provides the massive 500% gear range thanks to its 10-50t design, while the unique oil-slick rainbow finish is exclusive to XX1 Eagle AXS. The XX1 Eagle chain is also treated to this unique finish. The XX1 Eagle DUB crankset makes use of the latest 28.99mm DUB standard and is compatible with most bottom bracket shells on the market (BB sold separately). Ultralight carbon cranks arms keep weight down, while a 34t X-SYNC 2 chainring means you crank out some serious speed without worry of dropping a chain and still have all the gears you need for climbing. SRAM sought to raise the bar with XX1 Eagle AXS and they have succeeded; XX1 Eagle AXS is a breeze to install, is highly durable and provides next-level shifting performance.
